    Jacquie's migration story so far

    Jacquie told us that Australia is very similar to South Africa. She says that she had to leave behind friends and family along with many memories she shared with them.

    Jacquie migrated from South Africa. She was at the age of 35 when she moved to Australia in 1997. Jacquie had to leave behind Family, Friends and meny memories. Jacquie is now an Australian citizen. Jacquie prefers Australia than South Africa because she had a wonderful opportunity and Australians have a great quality of life.

    How she got to Australia
    Jacquie applied for a transfer into the Royal Australian Navy from the South African Navy. She then got accepted and flew from Johannesburg to Sydney with Qantas. Jacquie has not faced any difficulties while being here.

    Since Jacquie migrated to Australia she has qualified as a bronze swim coach. She is a learn to swim teacher, teaching:
    General water safety
    Infants- all ages
    Adults, including disabled Competitive strokes

    Jacquie had never visited Australia before and she said that it is a lot like South Africa. (shops, people, food clothing & climate)
