Russian Revolution Timeline

  • Rasputin Assassinated

    Tsarina's son Alexis led to his being adopted as a supreme mystic at court. Growing in influence to the point where he effectively dictated policy he was eventually assassinated by a group of court conspirators in December 1916.
  • Petrograd Soviets formed

    The Petrograd Soviet, it was set up in Petrograd in March 1917 as the representative body of the citys workers. All of the workers have the power but not thier company's owner because he dosent work and produce things.
  • The March Revolution

    A strike began in a factory in Petrograd. The size and momentum grew daily, and by March 9, three hundred thousand workers were marching in the streets. The strike now out of control was on the point of becoming a revolution. Bolshevik (political party)and Menshevik organizers were hard at work, pushing more workers to join the strike.
  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates

    Nicholas II ruled from 1894 until his abdication on 15 March 1917. His reason to reign was that the Imperial Russia went from being one of the great powers of the world to an economic and military disaster.
  • Russian Civil War

    It was a multi-party war that occurred within the old Russian Empire after the Russian provisional government was destroyed and the Soviets were under the domination of the Bolshevik party(lead by Linen) assumed power, first in Petrograd and then in other cities.
  • Lenin shipped by Germans to Russia

    Lenin criticized the czar. He fought against the government and was exiled to Siberia. His brother had been hung. Lenin goes to Switzerland and reads Marx. He plots against the czar. He led a group called the Bolsheviks.
  • Bolshevik Revolution

    It was a political revolution. It was placed with an armed insurrection in Petrograd.The Bolsheviks Revolution in Petrograd overthrew the Russian Provisional and gave the power to the local soviets dominated by Bolsheviks.
  • Communist control Russia

    Russia by 1918 appeared to be in the hands of the communists (the Bolshevik Party) led by Lenin. The Provisional Government was overthrown and the Bolsheviks have gained power in Russia and that the country’s problems seemed to be over. In reality, those problems had only just begun.
  • Lenin signs Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was a peace treaty. At Brest-Litovsk between the RSFSR and the Central Powers, marking Russia's exit from World War I.
  • Royal family murdered

    On this event the second Russian dynasty whole family was killed because of the political issues.
