The Sand Creek Massacre took place in Colorado and Kansas. The event took place in the spring of 1864. -
Treaty of Fort Laramie
In 1868 a meeting was help at Fort Laramie. The were establishing a treaty with the Sioux. The treaty was to keep peace between the whites and the Sioux. Other people were taking the land. As soon as gold was found more miners would move into the land and the Sioux was demanding protection from the United States Army. The land still remains both the Sioux and the U.S Goverments'.
