    Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac

When Abraham continued doubting God, God almost told and allowed him to kill Isaac. Even when Abraham had so many doubts, God still loved him and wanted him to carry on His mission. By leading Abraham all the way through the point of sacrifice, God has proven he will not leave Abraham behind because Abraham has shown his clear faith in Him. He even prepared a ram which is a connection to Jesus to show that even when we're unfaithful and doubting, He has already prepared plans for us.

    Joseph Typology Part I

Joseph was repeatedly accused and experienced misfortune, and he was almost killed at the hands of his brothers. This passage from Genesis 37 is very similar to Jesus' own betrayal from Judas and the Jews. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery while Jesus had to endure the mockings of his own people and finally the betrayal of them when they requested Jesus' death on the cross.

    Joseph Typology Part II

The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard shows how God treats everyone equally, even when some have worked less than others. This is a connection to Joseph's life in Egypt. He experienced a lot of misfortune and oppression in Egypt because his brothers had sold him, but God still looked over his brothers and used Joseph to bless them along with Joseph. Joseph's brothers didn't experience the same hardship as Joseph did, but God still blessed and saved them in the times of famine.

  • Personal Reflection

In Genesis 15:1, it says “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” Sometimes, I doubt God in his ways and when I have come across obstacles of my own. Once before I went to the Philippines, I was quite excited but worried about the trip. I feel this passage was like God trying to comfort me. Like Abram, I have problems of my own, and unlike Abram, mine are just very small to even register. Reminding myself of Abram's life can allow me to thank God for my good life now.
  • How can we see God's covenant with Abraham being fulfilled today?

"The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God." This was the covenant God made with Abraham in Genesis 17:8. Now, Israel is independent among others which call them "foreigners", proving the verse above. Even though they are considered foreigners with their policies against the Palestinians, Israel is ruling the Canaan area, just like what God said, and they are holding it.
