  • The Dawes Act of 1877

    The Dawes Act allowed the President to take land from the Native Americans and divide up the tribes into smaller families then redistribute the land. Any land that was not claimed was sold to non-natives. The point of the act was to take away Native Indian's tribes and cultures.

    A war between the United States and Spain. It began after the explosion of the USS Maine in a harbor in Cuba. This led to the American intervention for the independence of Cuba. Ultimately, America won and the Treaty of Paris was created.
  • Treaty of Paris

    This treaty ended the Spanish-American war and Spain gave up their claim on cuba and ceded Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines to the United States.This treaty established the United States as a world power.
