  • Dred Scott Case

    Dred Scott believed that since he and his family lived in a place that didn't allow slavery, they should have their basic rights given to them. " In 1846, Scott had begun the court suit for his and his family's freedom..." pg 377.   • Henry McNeal Turner

    He was a black legislator, a minister and a delegate in 1867 for the constitutional convention who believed in rights for everyone. He, by extension, helped develop the 14th amendment, which let black men and women be American citizens. -Georgia: its heritage and its promise pg. 423-4.
  • The Election of 1860

    Republican, Abraham Lincoln, won the election, which broke off the thin bond between the south and the north. This was because he believed in not having slaves, while the south believed in having them.   • Battle of Chickamauga

    The union's army went up against the south's in Tennessee to capture the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee. From both sides, death was numerous, but the confederates won by being able to push the union back. - Georgia encyclopedia
  • Sherman's March to the Sea.
