    Simon Bolivar was elected as president of Gran Colombia on this date. He was a political leader that helped declare independence from the spanish leader.

    The Creek War also known as the Red Stick War was originally a civil war betweeen the Creek Muscogee nation. This began becasue of the Red Sticks fighting with the European Americans for encroachment on Creek Lands.

    In Massachusetts a cotton mill opened up for women workers, this allowed women to work to support their family.
  • Ulysses S. Grant, Civil War general and later president of the United States, was born at Point Pleasant, Ohio.

    Ulysses S. Grant was originally a Civil War generaly of highranking and eventually became the President of the U.S.A.
  • 1824 Tariff Act of 1824 Passed

    This law passed land and sea traffic laws for cars and steam boats. This decreased amount of collisions.
  • 1825 Erie Canal is completed

    The Erie Canal was considered one of the great engineering feats of the 19th century. It was carved by hand and horses through 363 miles of wilderness. It is composed of a series of channel locks that allow a boat to be lowered or raised in an enclosed watertight lock. This marvel of engineering improved trading along the canal and also served as a major canal for immigrants wanting to travel. Also the construction of the canal supplied many immigrants with jobs.

    In 1827 56 year old Beethoven died in Vienna, Austrailia.Long Live Beethoven.

    Russia declares war on turkey in 1828.

    This invention hurried the process of writing notes such as legal terms or report cards.
  • 1830 Belgium Adopts a Constitution

    The July revolution in France inspired Belgium people to rise up against Dutch rule for their independence. The Belgium suceeded, the Dutch were forced out in late September.
  • 1830 Maysville Road Veto

    The Maysville road veto was done by once again Andrew Jackson. The Maysville road would have allowed to purchase stock in Maysville, Washington, Paris, and Lexington Turnpike Road Company. This would make a giant road connecting Lexington, KY. and Maysville, KY., on the Ohio River congress even passed a bill to complete the project. You may ask me it was vetoed this because Jackson thought this project was unconstitutional.
  • US congress passes the Indian Removal Act

    You may be wondering what the heck is the Indian Removal Act, I will tell you. In 1830 president Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal act, it allowed him to negotiate with the Native Americans in the Southern states for their removal (hence the name Removal Act) to goverment land, west of the Mississippi river in exchange for their lands.
  • Nat Turner's Slave Insurrection

    In August 16, 1831 Nat Turner lead a slave rebellion in Southampton County Virginia. The slaves killed between 55-65 people. The incident was put down in a few days but Nat Turner stayed alive for a couple more month in hiding. The after math was BAD, they accused many for being part of the rebellion killing many innocent enslaved people but also killing the people that were part of the rebellion.
  • 1833 Compromise Tariff of 1833 drawn up by Henry Clay

    The Tariff of 1833 was a protevtive tarrif passed by the U.S. Congress, The goal of this tariff was to protects northern U.S. industries from being driven out buisness, so the tarrif placed a tax on low-price imported goods.
  • 1833 Slavery is abolished in Brittish Empire

    Slavery was offically abolished in the Brittish Empire. It ended all slave apprecentice ships and owenership of slaves.
    About 20 million euros were raised to abolish it.
  • Slave Trade Abolished

    As in the name slave trade was abolished but that doesnt mean people couldnt still own them. Many people still traded them though in boats. If they were caught they would throw all of their slaves off the ships.
  • 1835- 1842 Second Seminole War

    The Second Seminole War is also known as the Florida War, it was between the Native Americans called the Seminoles and the United States. Also the 2nd war was the most expensive of all the Seminole Wars. Since Florida became a state the Seminoles were encouraged to move to the west side of the Mississippi River. They opposed to the idea of this since they did give up their land.

    The War of Texan Independence also known as the Texas Revolution, was a war between the Mexican Goverment and the Texan Colonists. The result of this war was the formation or the Republic of Texas. After the war internal conflict continued.
  • 1837, Sameul Morse creates telegraph

    The invention of the telegraph was greatly used during WWII
    and many other wars It acted as a fast way of communication between far away places.
  • 1837, The Panic of 1837

    The Panic of 1837 was caused by people who have panic attacks. I was totally joking about that. The panic was due to the economic expansion from a couple years before 1834-1836. The conseqeunces from that were unemployment went up and profits, prices and wages went down. The recession lasted 7 years. Banks collapsed, buisnessses failed, prices declined and many lost their jobs. Unemployment was low as 25% in some locals, 1837-1844 were generally speaking years of deflation in wages and prices.

    The Aroostock war was a war over the international boarder Brittish colony New brunswick and Maine.
  • 1838 TRAIL OF TEARS

    The Trail Of Tears is the event of which thousands of Native Americans were forced out of their home land and relocated westward. It mainly affected the Northeastern tribes.The relocation involved the Cherokee, Muscongee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes.
  • Opium War, China ceded Hong Kong to UK

    The Chinese gives up the island of Hong Kong to the Brittish. This war started when the British invaded China. In the end China lost and the Brittish owned this island. But in 1984 another war started and in the end China now owns Hong Kong

    This is the first time 2 people could communicate with each other through their coices electronically. This is a huge impact on tecnology and electronics. If we didnt have this maybe modern electronics like the phone wouldnt have even been created. This inspired many people to brainstorm new ideas like the telephone and more ideas like the IPhone.
  • 1846 U.S. Declares war on Mexico,

    There had been tension between Mexico and Texas for a while and the Southern United States. Mexico was a slave free country and the South was angry with them. Then after awhile United States declared war with them. Mexico was not aware of this and did not want to have war.
  • Irish Potato Famine in Germany

    In Germany a famine was in their most pirized crop, potatoes. The Germans used to live off of potatoes and most of Europe so when they couldnt grow anymore potatoes they were out of food. In this case many people had to migrate because of losed jobs because of this. This is important to the migration because many migrated over here because of lossed jobs.

    In 1848 a very lucky man discovered the first piece of gold in California. He had found it in a river this first move lead to the Gold Rush in 1849 not long from the first findings.

    It was a sickness that caused death and could wipe out intire cities. This is part of the reason why in the United States they were very stricked about people in who had medical problems.

    The California Gold Rush triggered one of the largest migrations recorded, truely expressing the American dream. Many people started by panning gold by hand. Once the first wave of gold seakers left, another wave arrived with large wooden machines that scoopd out the last particles of gold.

  • Mexico agrees to the Gadsden Purchase

    Mexico agrees to the Gadsden Purchase, selling a strip of land running along Mexico's northern border between Texas and California for $10 million. Intended as the route for a railroad connecting the Mississippi to the Pacific, the territory goes undeveloped when the approach of the Civil War causes the project to be put aside.

    The Crimean War was becasue France lost an ally of the Ottoman Empire, France and Briitian. The issue involed the Christians right in the holy land owned by the Ottoman Empire.

    The Republican Party also knwon as The Grand Old Party founded by anti-slavery activists and the party dominated from 1860-1832.. The party is based off of American conservatism in contrast from the Dominican Republic Party who are based off of liberal policies.

  • Arrow war

    The second Anglo Chinese war, which became known as the Arrow war, began when the Chinese forced a British registered ship to lower the British flag. British and French troops reached Tienstsin in 1858 and thus threatened the Chinese capital Peking. The Chinese agreed to the Treaty of Tienstsin, which opened more treaty ports to foreigners and legalized the importantness of Opium.
  • 1857 In Kansas, pro-slavery forces meeting at Lecompton draft a constitution making the territory a slave state

    They aksed locals to vote on wether to appvove slavery. Some people boycotted this act but in the end Kansans reject the pro-slavery constitution by an overwhelming margin.
