Jan 1, 1982 The Charter of Rights and Freedoms recgonises existing aboriginal and treaty rights Jan 1, 1985 First nations women were given the right to keep or regain their status as a native after marrying a non-native Jan 1, 1986 Bands were givin the right to determine their own membership. Jan 1, 2000 Band members living off of the reserve could vote in band elections.
