    Paul Gauguin and Brittain

    Paul Gauguin often visited Brittain during the years of 1886 and 1890. Gauguin went to the artist colony Pont-Aven and studied there for a little bit, where he had many people tha admired him along with his work, but soon concluded that impressionism was boring, lifeless, and lacked depth and meaning.

    On June 7, 1848 Paul gauguin was born in Paris. As he grew up he entered the merchant marine. Then after that he became a stockbroker. When the stockmarket crashed he stopped being a stockbroker and then moved onto being a full-time artist.

    Paul Gauguin had studied with Camille Pissano, who was an impresstionest artist. He also occasionally studied with Paul Cezanne as well. In the beginning he took intrest into impressionism and then later moved onto other subjects and styles.

  • Paul Gaguin Worked with Van Gogh

    In October of 1888 Paul Gauguin had worked with Van Gogh on painting. They were not very good companions and had a tough relationship. At the end of their nine weeks together in painting, Gauguin confronted Van Gogh with violence that then led to Van Gogh fleeing the presence of Gauguin. Van Gogh was soon in the hospital and Gauguin had never seen or worked with or saw him again.
