    The Jamestown Colony was one of the permanent first English colonies to be established in the Americas. It was founded because the English colonists wanted to search for Gold in the New World.The Jamestown Colony nearly failed for mainly three reasons. Firstly, the island that the colony was situated on had a limited supply of drinkable water. Secondly, there was a spreadage of disease which originated from the mosquitoes in the area. Lastly, the Indians near the Jamestown Colony were unfriendly

    Third English Colony (Plymouth Bay) Established
    The Plymouth Bay colony was an English colony located in North America. The Plymouth Bay Colony was established for mainly two reasons. These two reasons were because colonists wished to have religious freedom and they esatblished also for financial profit. The cause of it being established was that the colonists managed to gain financial freedom and they built a semi-stable community.

    This specific year was extremely important to society and it was proof that the Age of Enlightenment was an advancement in the evolution of the human race. The cause of this was that it became a intellectual ferment in the French Revoltion. It was published because Denis Diderot wanted to incorporate all the World's knowledge into a single series of books.

    Governor Lachlan Macquarie

    Lachlan Macquarie was a British army officer and a colonial advisor. He played a crucial part in making New South Wales a free settlement instead of a penal colony (settlement used to exile prisoners. Lachlan beleived in kindness and attention to the natives and the prisoners. When he became Governor, Macquarie stuck by his word because these were his beleifs and he managed to help ex-convicts and natives accepted back into the community.

    The First Fleet's journey between Britain and Botany Bay took anywhere between 250 and 258 days until it ended. This event occured because Britain wanted to lessen the amount of convicts that they had because the prisons were all becoming overcrowded. The result of this event was that many criminals had to undergo a terrible and unjust experience and it resulted in many of the prisons having a lesser population.

    As soon as they arrived, the transported convicts had to go straight to work for their rightful owners. They had to do hard labour and work very long and hard days for no pay. As well as this, the convicts were treated extremley badly. This happened because many people back then thought that this was a justifiable treatment for the convicts and also because the convicts had no say in the matter. The cause of this was many convicts had to live an extremley hard life and they rebelled.

    Squatting is basically the act of illegally taking a piece of land because the Squatter was the first one their. This act began in Australia because many settlers beleived that Australia was theirs and not their government's. This led to many Squatters taking land from aboriginals by force and it led to many illegal establishments being constructed.

    The French Revolution was one of the most memorable social and political events in French history. It was even well-known outside of France in some other European countries. This event occured mainly because of the peasants and other 'second class' citizens that were displeased with the way the French Government were dealing with things. The causes of the French Revolution included: an inadequate ruler (Louis XVI), social issues, political conflict and The Enlightenment.

    Matthew Flinders basically founded Australia. By circumnavigating Australia, Matthew managed to map the coastline of the Australis (southern land in Latin). He did this becaause he was determined to find more out about Australia and he had an ambition to chart the massive island itself. The cause of this 'mapping' was that the British finally had an understanding of the "mysterious southern land".

    The Assisted Migration Scheme helped confident free settlers to move to Australia. It was indeed not as luxurious as was displayed and for some it could be considered the worst decision of their life. It was implemented mainly because England wished to get skilled people into Australia by giving them a reason to (e.g. cheap land, promise of good life) and to increase the population in Australia.

    The Myall Creek Massacre was a horrific scene in which many Aboriginals were horribly murdered without remorse.The murderers didn't know it was illegal. Secondly, the culprits had bad emotions and thoughts towards Abroginals. Lastly, the Aboriginals were not seen as being humans by law. The causes of this event included the group of murderers being the first people to be hanged for murduring natives. Also, this led to people hiding their massacres from the government.

    The transportation of convicts to Australia was a terrible process which many criminmals went through for things as extreme as murder or as something as small as stealing a loave of bread. This terrible happening ended because of colonies not wishing to receive any more convicted felons and many anti-transportation groups rising up. The cause of this was that many convicts would not have to go throught that amount of pain and Australia could go on to start a stable society.
  • Archduke Franz Ferdinand Assasinated

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand Assasinated
    This event went down in history as one of the biggest and most controversial assasinations ever. The archduke was murdered in Sarajevo, Serbia. Franz Ferdinand was heir to the throne and he was in Sarajevo for a royal tour on behalf of his uncle The Emporer. This event happened because the Black Hand (a secret organization against the Royal Family), issued an assassination in the hopes of showing the Royal Family that they did not want to live under their rule. Basically, this event caused WW1.

    End of the Gallipoli Campaign
    The Gallipoli Campaign was a terrible and slow massacre of ANZAC soldiers. It was created in the hopes of bringing down Germany through the downfall of their allies. It ended as an evacuation which took place between the 8th of December through to the 20th. The soldiers were evacuated mainly because their were many ANZACS losing their lives with no progress being made. The cause of this evacuation was that many soldiers were saved from their almost certain death.

    The Battle of the Somme was a horrific battle that took place in North-Central Somme, southeastern Pas-de-Calais Départements and next to the Somme River in France. After this battle took place, the word 'Somme' has become synonymous with slaughter. It happened because the Triple Entente wished to take pressure off the French after they suffered great losses at the Battle of Verdun and to hopefully destroy the German manpower. The cause of this event was that Germany were pushed out of Verdun.

    The end of the White Australia Policy was an important success for the national indigenous and Chinese immigrants of Australia. This abolition took over the time period of 25 years to be done. Australia has made large advancements when it comes to migration because nowadays anyone can moved to Australia if they are validated correctly. The 'White Australia' policy ended because in the 1930's, the British population began to relax. The cause of this was that Australia became very multicultural.
  • Battle of Verdun

    Battle of Verdun
    The Batlle of Verdun was vigorous fight between the French and the Germans. As well as being the longest battle of World War 1, it was also one of the worst battles in WW1. This battle occured because the Germans wished to take the city of Verdun to help push through into France. The cause of the Battle of Verdun was that both sides suffered massive death counts and neither side got anywhere. This battle eventually lead to the Somme Offensive.
