    Battle between the Allies and Germany, part of the Battle of France, this was a turning point because of the rescues of allied soldiers achieved. British propaganda later exploited the successful evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940, and particularly the role of the "Dunkirk little ships", very effectively.   • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    WWII air campaign launched by the German air force against the UK. This is a major campaign done solely by air forces. The battle of Britain was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date.The failure of Germany to achieve its objectives of destroying Britain's air defences, or an outright surrender, is a huge turning point in WWII.   • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Invasion of the soviet union. Hitler took over most of Europe by this time, except Britain and the Soviet Union. Hitler attacked Russia anyway, the Battle of Stalingrad was part of this operation where Hitler wanted the oil fields in the Caucasus region. Stalingrad was simply an industralized city.   • Battle of El Alamein

    Battle of El Alamein
    The axis advanced this way to the city of El Alamein on the coast of Egypt. This allowed total free access to the Suez Canal for Allied shipping. This victory stopped the Germans from threatening the Middle-Eastern oil fields, a major supplier of Allied oil reserves.
