This invasion started off as Japanese tension between/towards China and Indochina. Japan's intent was to try and solve problems by expanding which would then dominate the economy. As a response, the US set higher standards on immigration and trading processes. These things included gas and iron. Japan took it the wrong way and saw it as them becoming more of a threat to their territory.

The Munich-Pact was when Britain and France allowed Hitler to take more land as a way of telling him to stop. Little did they know that he was plotting and planning on taking more sooner than later. A little after they both agreed on this pact, Hitler broke it and ended up taking more territory 6 months later. Because of his actions, the European policy of appeasement ended.

East Germany tried to diffuse tension but because there were so many people, they had no other choice but to let them cross.
