  • Assassination of France Ferdinand

    A group of Serbians planned to assassinate Franz Ferdinand and his wife while they toured the city of Sarajevo. The death of archduke started a chain reaction that set the alliances of Europe against each other and began WWI.
  • The Battle of Marne

    This battle stopped the German assault into France. The Germans were halted and both sides dug trenches, which became the Western Front.
  • Battle of Tannenburg

    August 1914, Russia vs. Germany: It became an example of Russian incompetence. The entire Russian 2nd army was annihilated.
  • The Battle of Gallipoli

    1915-1916 Britain vs. The Ottoman Empire
    The British attempted a naval invasion to seize the Ottoman capital of Istanbul and open a sea route to resupply Russia.
  • Sinking of Lusitania

    The sinking of the Cunard ocean liner RMS Lusitania occurred on Friday, 7 May 1915 during the First World War, as Germany waged submarine warfare against the United Kingdom which had implemented a naval blockade of Germany.

    The message was sent to the German ambassador to Mexico, Heinrich von Eckardt.
