    Nationalist Gavrilo Princip. Austria suspects Serbia is responsible for the death of Austro-Hungarian and his wife. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Sophie Chotek was assassinated by Bosnian Serb. In the same day Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia. This started the chain that made the World War happen.
  • Everyone Declaring War

    Everyone Declaring War
    Germany declares war on Russia, France, and Belgium; Britain and Japan declares war on Germany. Austria-Hungary declares war on Russia and Belgium; France and Britain declares war on Austria-Hungary. The United States Declares it will stay neutrality for now. So everyone declared war on someone else minus the US.
  • Battle of Jutland

    Battle of Jutland
    This battle was the largest naval battle of the war. Britain's Royal Navy Grand Fleet and the German Navy's High Seas Fleet. This was a draw although both sides claimed victory. You could say that the Britain Royal Navy won because the Navy had important ships and an even better position then the German's.

    Germany secretly communicated with Mexico using Zimmerman Telegram. British intelligence intercepts the message and gave it to the United States. Germany was proposing an alliance with Mexico, it was encase the United States ever joined the war. Mexico denied the offer. The German's did win in something, they got the United States mad.

    U.S. Joins in
    U.S. President Woodrow Wilson delivers a war message. Famously stating that "the world must be made safe for democracy." The U.S. joined the Allied Power and fought Germany. Germany can't push the United States around.
  • Espionage Act

    Espionage Act
    Congress passes this act to make it a crime for anyone to carry information intended to interfere with war efforts. Promoting the success of the country's enemies is a crime as well. Anyone found guilty could pay $10,000 or 20 years in prison, maybe even both. This acted was reinforced the following year by the Sedition Act.
  • 14 points for peace

    14 points for peace
    President Woodrow Wilson blueprint the Fourteen Points of Peace. The speech was based on different reports made by the Inquiry. The Inquiry is about 150 political and social science organized by an old friend and adviser Col. Edward M. House. There job was to secretly study Allied and American policy, and political facts that will likely come up in a discussion during and peace conference. The team worked and at the end collected nearly 2,000 reports and 1,200 maps.

    The Germans had been given 72 hours to agree to the Allied Demands so they sign the armistice. Supreme Allied Commander Marshal Ferdinand Foch orders all the fighting and hostilities on the Western Front come to a halt at 11 a.m. Paris time.

    Germany is forced to sign the treaty. This treaty was the most important piece of paper to end the war. This treaty ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. The Treaty of Versailles was signed in Versailles on June 28, 1919. Exactly 5 years after the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
