Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife was assassinated by Gavrillo Princip a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo. Princp was part of the group The Black Hand. -

The Black Hand was a secret Serbian society that used terrorist methods to promote liberation of Serbs outside of Serbia. They responsible for the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. -

One month to the day after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife were killed by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo, Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia, effectively beginning the First World War. -

The Lusitania was a passenger ship sucked by a German U-boat sunk the British luxury liner, the RMS Lusitania. 1,198 people lost their lives, including 128 Americans. -

German zeppelin airship appeared in London and started drooping. This was the first time London was bomb from the air. -

Zimmerman Telegram
The Zimmerman Telegram was a secret communication issued from the German Foreign Office. It proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico to fight against the U.S. In return of the alliance between Germany and Mexico, Germany was going to help Mexico get back the land they lost in the Mexican-American War. -
The U.S. enters the War
Woodrow Wilson said, "The world must be made safe for democracy." The U.S entered the WWI. The U.S. joined its allies Britain, France, and Russia to fight in WWI.
