V-1's continue to hit England, especially London, sometimes with horrifying losses. A lot of Anne's books were soaked and all wet, so they needed to make them dry. -
The NCRE makes a declaration
The National Committee of the Republic of Estonia makes a declaration "to the Estonian People." The declaration was made public to the world press in Stockholm in July 1944 and in Tallinn on 1 August 1944. Anne and every one in the "Secret Annexe" are very affected by the news of the day before. She thinks it is sad that they have to go through this war and she doesn't understand them. The Battle of Tali-Ihantala between Finnish and Soviet troops begins. It's the largest battle ever to be fought in the Nordic countries. Their family will need to start eating less. Their main menu will be to cut breakfast all together , to have porridge and bread for lunch , fried potatoes for supper and possibly once or twice per week vegetables or lettuce. She sais " We're going to be hungry, but anything is better than being discovered"
