The Germans first started using poison gas on their enemys. Causing vomitting, blindness, and suffocation. Allies began using gasses also. So they came up with the idea of gas masks, to stay protected.

As the aircraft technology got better, they gained new ideas. Battling in tge air, Machine guns became attatcched to the airplanes, ANd with cloth covering them, they were highly flammable and it made it very easy to blow up. Killing the combat pilots, as they wanted.

Barbed wire was put up in front of trenches to keep enemies out. Entanglements and obstacles were made. And it was hard to get past, without a tank. So their goal of being protected by the barbed wire worked for the most part, until new ideas came about.

American men ordered african american men to report to duty as a soldier, They needed more help, and they turned to them for it. But the U.S. men told to the French to not treat the african american soldiers with respect. They were just simply there to do a duty.

Took a train in the evening, to travel to Northhamptons, Mass. He didnt arrive until 6a.m. And it was a long, cold, misserable ride. He barely got any sleep, and had to take off as soon as he arrived.
