After the first battle at the Marne a temporary plan for trenches to be dug began, turning out not being temporary. Soldiers on both sides start digging trenches in order to avoid hits. This turns the war into a stalemate because neither side can gain any ground.

Pavel Argeyev became Capitaine a little before this date. On this date, because of Valour under fire, he was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur. Later he was wounded which made him unfit for infantry duty.
