    S.S St. Louis
    This ship was carrying many Jewish People from Germany escaping Nazi persecution. Canadian immigration would not allow ship to dock and eventually the ship had to return back to Germany. Nobody wanted the Jews because nobody trusted them and wanted to protect their country. It is significance is that it shows intolerance and anti-semitic feelings.
  • Battle of Britian

    Battle of Britian
    German and British air forces clashed planes over United Kingdom. They clashed planes together because Germany wanted to expland their land and tried taking over Britian. Britian faught back and would not let them take their land. It was significant because it was a turning point in WW2 and Canada added 80 piolets. The battle ended with Germany's Luftwaffe failed to gain air superiorty over the Royal Ait Force.

    All Japense people in B.C were removed from their homes by Canadian government and sent to internment camps. This happened because people were very racist and discriminated Japenese people. This happened because the Japense bombed The Pearl Harbour, a ship, and this led to residents of B.C to develop strong hatred towards Japan. The significance is that nobody ever found any evidence that the Japenese were working with the enemy.

    The government made evry Canadian citizen cut back on canned foods, fuel, meat, sugar, coffee, shoes, and consumer goods. The government convinved themselves the citizens would have enough. They did this because they needed everything for the war act because they were most important. So everything the people cut back on went to the war act. The significance is that Canada agreed with this plan.

    The battle of Ortona was faught by the Canadians agianst the Germans in Ortona, Italy. Italy did not want anymore war making Italy just a extension of Germany only by land. The abttle became a house battle. There were many houses in Ortona, so the Germans had an advantage towards the Canadians. The Canadians the began to blow up the houses so Germany no longer had the advantage. The significane is that Canadians learn skills and that they were able to push germany out of Italy.

    This invation happened on five beaches and was with American, British, and Canadian forces. It was orignally planned for June 5th but got moved to June 6th. The paln was the allies to attack Normandy. The landed on Juno beach. Many Canadians got injured and killed.This happened because they knew the only way to take out hitler is to surround him and take him down as a team. The significance is that it was well planned, had to be kept secret, and was a surprise.

    Canadian Forces were told to liberate the Neatherlands from Nazi occupation. Thye were told to do this because the goal was to bring the war to a rapid end by cutting in half the German positions in Western Europe. It is significant because many Dutch men, women, and children perished of starvation and the cold because there was nothing left for anyone.

    Consciption Piebiscite
    The King said they would meet their obligations only with volunteers. He put the question to a plebiscite asking the Canadian pubic if it would release him from his earlier commitment. Quebec spilt in two, and the French Cnadians voted no, and the English Candians yes. It happened because people disagreed with each other and everyone began to agrue. The significance is that the king only had to send out 2500 people.
