  • Hobbes' publishes Leviathan

    Hobbes' book the Leviathan is a book about the origins of civil government. Origins means where the government started and came from. The Leviathan had a great impact on history. Such as the only way to guarantee mans peace, security and escape the dreaded state of nature. The Leviathan was thought of and made in the midst of England's civil war.
  • Locke publishes two treatises of government

    Locke's treatises were published during the Glorious Revolution from 1688-1690. Locke was one of the most influential philosophers of modern times. The Latter is an essay concerning the true original extent and end of civil government. Locke was important because these treatises were true and meant a lot to people. Civil government was what the people didn't want.
  • Montesquieu published The Spirit of the Laws

    The Spirit of the Laws was originally published in 1748 but was published in English in 1750. The Spirit of the Laws was a treatises on political theory first published anonymously. He published it anonymously because he didn't know if the government would accept it. The government accepted it and he published it under his name. The impact of this on history was the naturalistic account of the various forms of government.
  • Rousseau Published social contract

    The social contract is the laws are binding only when they are supported by general will of people. The social contract challenged the traditional order of society. The social contract was bad to some because it challenged tradition. But for others were okay with it challenging tradition.
  • Beccaria published on Crimes and Punishments

    On Crimes and Punishments was a treatise on legal reform. The On Crimes and Punishment had a great impact on history. It was received and accepted by the government. Also explains great success and expressed in a systematic concise way.
