    Colorado is the first state to grant women the right to vote on political issues. Utah and Idaho followed in 1896, Washington State, California, Oregan, Kansas, and Arizona. After those states, Alaska, Illinois, Montana, and Nevada. New York Michigan, South Dakota, and Oklahoma followed later on.
  • National Association of Colored Women

    The National Association of Colored Women is formed. They helped to create over 100 black women clubs.
  • Garment Strike

    Women in New York went on strike from work until their work environment was made safer and healthier for them to work in.
  • Women and the Industrial Field

    During the war, women began filling in for men in the work force working with heavy machinery, building automobiles, and other industrial jobs.
  • Birth Control

    Margaret Sanger organized the American Birth Control League.

    Alice Paul and Lucy Burns created the Congressional Party which later became the National Womens Party.

    Congress approved the Equal Rights Amendement.
