    FIRST NATIONAL WOMENS RIGHT CONVENTION .
    first national womens right convention took place in worcester mass which attracted more than 1,000 participants. the knowledge and idea of women rights began to spread,the more that the idea spread the more closer women got to actually getting the equal rights they have wanted for years.
  • NATIONAL WOMEN SUFFURAGE.

    susan b anthony and elizabeth cady stanton formed a national woman suffurage association,
    GOAL - to achieve voting rights for women by means of a congressional amendment to the constitution.
    DECEMBER 10TH - wyoming passes the first women sufferage law .. women began serving on juries in the territory . this change not only was a success to women but also what the start of many other to come.

    colorado was the first state to adopt an amendment granting women the right to vote .
    UTAH - in 1896
    WASHINTON - in 1910
    CALIFORNIA - in 1911 these states began a trend and finally we got to where we are today .

    a national association of colored women was formed bringing together more than 100 black women clubs.
    leaders - mary church terrell and anna julia . this national association not only gave support to women in general but supported the black women as well .
  • NATIONAL WOMENS TRADE UNION LEAGUE.

    NATIONAL WOMENS TRADE UNION LEAGUE.
    national womens trade union league advocated for improved wages and working conditions for women. women were working in poor conditions and this trade union league spoke for them to improve this condition and to decrese the risk of them getting severely sick .

    margaret sanger opens the first birth control clinic in brooklyn .. 10 days later the clinic is shut down and sanger is arrested. sanger than wins support through court and opens another clinic in new york 1923.

    margaret sanger founds the american birth control league which evolves in the planned parenthood federation of america in 1942.

    mary mcleod bethune organizer of the national council of negro women consist of a black womens group that lobbies against job discrimination, racism, and sexism. because of mary and her organiztion the problems such as descrimination, racism , and etc were being approached and sooner or later dealt with .

    the food and drug administration approves birth control.
    giving women the okay to decrese the risk of pregnacy . with birth control now being approved women were now able to protect themselves and have some type of contraceptives to prevent pregnacy.

    president jhon f kennedy establishes the presidents commission on the status of women and appoints eleanor roosevelt as chair women.
  • EQUAL PAY ACT .

    EQUAL PAY ACT .
    congress passes the equal pay act making it illegal for employers to pay a woman less than what a man would recieve for the same job . this equal pay act gave women basically the same rights as men in a sense with pay both were paid equally.

    griswold v connecticut supreme court strikes down the one remaining state law prohibiting the use of contraceptives by married couples .

    schultz v wheaton glass court appeals rule that jobs held by men and women need to be substantially equal.
    ( equal pay act )
