    First Women's rights convention
    For two days in Seneca, New York, there was a meeting known as the Seneca Falls Convention was held to discuss the "Social, civil, and religious condition, and rights of women" it is known as the first women's rights convention.

    "Ain't I a woman?"
    Back in 1851, in Akron, Ohio, Sojourner Truth delivered her historical and memorable speech which describes the need for equal rights for women.
  • WW1

    WW1
    During WW1 with many men over the pond in Europe to fight in the war, women were granted the rights to vote in other countries such as Canada, Britain, Germany and others. For the most part the war had strengthened the Suffrage movement because women had to take up more economic responsibilities during the war. Their actions convinced many Americans they deserved the right to vote, and two years after the war had ended the amendment had been ratified.

    After four long decades congress had passed the bill on June 4th 1919 and a few months later all American women were granted the right to vote.
  • Equal Rights Amendment

    Equal Rights Amendment
    This proposed amendment was almost achieved during the feminist movement of the 1960's, but failed to get ratified by 3/4th's of the States, by the deadline Congress had set. It was approved by the house of representatives in October 1971, and Senate in 1972. The ERA stated: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex"
