An influential woman in the movement, Susan B. Anthony tries to vote for Ulysses S. Grant. She is arrested and her claim that the 14th amendment protected her failed. It was further proof of the discrimination against women. -
Minor V. Happersett
The supreme court ruled that the 14th amendment didn't give women the right to vote. It was a major setback for women. -
First Introduction of the Woman's Suffrage Amendment
