    College Began admitting women

    This was the beginning of women gaining more during the 1800s. When Oberlin in Ohio began accepting women and later on other colleges started accepting women too.
  • American Woman Sufferage Associan

    The AWSA was formed in 1869 and focused mainly on earning the right to vote in each state.
  • National Woman Suffrage Association

    As well as the AWSA, the NWSA was formed in 1869 too. They focused on gaining a Constitutional Amendment to help give women the right to vote and help with other issues for women.
  • Susan B Anthony

    In order to test the law she had to speak up and by doing that she proceeded to wirte pamphlets, make speeches and staged a dramatic protest to help get into trial. She wanted trouble to resolve so she could show that everything she was doing was worth it.
  • Surpreme Court Ruling

    The Supreme Court ruled that even though women were citizens it still did not grant them the right to vote. They decided to let the states decide whether or not they could allow or deny their right to vote. This caused different Women Suffrage associations to rise up.

    Women Temperance Union/Movement

    A ovement formed by the Anti-Salon League to makea movement for banning alcohol and gaining rights for women.
  • Formation of NACW

    This association was formed to help gain rights for African Americans and help resolve the current brewing issues. Also it was founded in 1896.

    This group formed by African American women.

    Employment Options

    Once these women finished college they were denied professional opportunities and were not able to be apart of the American Medical Association or any other profession until 1915.

    Eighteenth Amendment Proposed

    After protesting, making speeches and smashed up salons with hatchets the Eighhteenth Admendment was amde to help prohibit the manufacture, sale, and distrubution of alcoholic beverages. However because the majority of peoplef ound it unimportant it was repealed in 1933.

    Prohibtion Movement Outlines

    Carry Nation had encouraged women to smash up salons and doing so this caused strong speeaches and wild raids that caused her to rise up to the public.
