  • World War I

    Women want to be able to work alongside men in the war factories, producing munitions. After that, they also fight for the right to join the army (although this doesn't succeed).
  • World War II

    Women continue to work in the factories alongside the men, although they are paid lower wages.
  • Universal Declaration of Human Rights

    The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is announced, and proposed to everybody in the world for approval. Women are given more rights.
  • International Women's Year

    Women's rights are celebrated all over the world, notably in stamps in many different cultures and countries.
  • First World Conference on Women

    Convenes in Mexico City. Coincides with the "International Year of Women"
  • Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women

  • Second World Conference on Women

    Takes place in Copenhagen.
  • Third World Conference for Women

    In Kenya.
  • World Conference on Human Rights

    Takes place in Vienna.
  • Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security

  • Security Council 1820 on Sexual Violence in Conflict

  • UN Women is established
