    National Women's Day
    National Women's Day was first started in Russia in 1917. Soon this became an international day all around the world. On this day women are recognized for their achievements.
  • Nineteenth Amendment

    Nineteenth Amendment
    The Nineteenth Amendment gave women the right to vote. It prohibited any United States citizen from being denied the right to vote on the basis of sex. This amendment to the Constitution was ratified on August 18th, 1920.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    Civil Rights Movement
    Between the 1950's and 1960's, civil rights activists in the United States used non violent protest, civil disobedience, and legal action to try and end segregation. This movement included activists fighting for equal rights for women.
  • Title IX

    Title IX
    "No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity". Title 9 gave legal protection to women as well as giving them the legal right to participate in school sports.

    Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO)
    The Women's Environment and Development Organization has a total of 110 governments attend to come up with plans to advance women's social, economic, and political status. This was a step taken to try and strengthen gender justice.
