  • Seneca Falls Convection

    The conversation was held in New York and it had 300 attendees, including organizers Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. 68 women and 32 men sign the Declaration of Sentiments, which started decades of activism that eventually led to the passage of the 19th Amendment which grants women the right to vote.
  • 1st Women's Suffrage Law

    Wyoming passes the legislature of the 1st women's suffrage law granting women the right to vote and hold office. Wyoming became the first state to allow women to vote.
  • 19th Amendment

    Ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is completed stating “the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” Also known as “The Susan B. Anthony Amendment”
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. This helped launch the civil rights movement.

    The FDA approves the first commercially produced birth control pill in the world.

    President John F. Kennedy signs the Equal Pay Act bans sex-based wage discrimination between men and women who perform the same job in the same workplace.

    President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act which bans employment discrimination based on race, religion, national origin or sex.
  • Title IX of the Education Amendments

    President Richard Nixon signs the Title IX of the Education Amendments which explains that no one should be denied from participation, denied the benefits of, or be denied of discrimination under any education program or activity that receives federal financial assistance.
  • Right To Abortion

    The U.S. Supreme Court states that the Constitution protects a woman’s right to an abortion.

    The U.S. military removes the ban against women serving in combat positions.
