Before WW2 women weren't usually allowed to work most jobs. Usually they would stay home and look after the kids or clean. Some women would work but it was pretty rare. When the second world war broke out it was just the same as the first, there were lots of jobs that weren't being done because most of the men were off fighting. This made lots of women want to help out and start working themselves. Throughout the whole second world war women worked in many different jobs to help the war effort. -

The amount of women now working in the work place was now crazy high because of the war. Women worked in factories, on farms, in stores and many other places. This was a big change for women and it helped change the history in regards to women working. -

Canadian Women joining the air force.
Ever since the start of the second world war Canadian women were really pushing for the right to be able to join the war effort to help Canada. This reason as well as the shortage in man power led to the Canadian air force agreeing that women should be allowed to join the war effort. They let women take over many male duties in the air force witch freed up men for work in the war that was directly related to combat. About 1700 women served in this force.
