    AAGPBL (All American Girls Professional Baseball League)
    The First All Women Professional Baseball League .Women had the opportuinty to play in a "League of Their Own", which also doubled as a movie title. During WWll women left their homes and headed to work as well as the baseball field. This opportunity came along because entertainment was needed while the men were away a war. The Women were still required to be dressed in a "women's attire". Their uniforms consisted of a dress with socks.

    Wilima Rudolph "Fastest Women on Earth"
    Wilma won three titles, in 110 degree heat, in the 1960 summer olymipics. She was nicknamed "the fasted women on earth". She help to prove a point in the "race against equality" in the United States. She also provided footsteps for other women alike to follow in.
  • Kathrine Switzer runs the Boston Marathon

    Kathrine Switzer runs the Boston Marathon
    Kathrine Switzer was the first women to run the Boston Marathon. She enter the race under a gender friendly name, K.V. Switzer. Switzer was attacked during the race by one of the directors. She managed to finish the race, but her time was not published. Women were not officallyallowed to run in the race untill about five years later.

    Title IX of the Education Amendments was enacted by Congress and is signed into law by Richard Nixon."No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
    This Law enabled the oppurtuinity for women to play sports inside of a school setting, and opended the oportuinity for professional sport.

    Billie Jean King defeats Bobby Riggs
    In one of the most publiicised tennis matches, Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs. Bobby Riggs believed that women were not qualified to play the sport at a serious level.This match helped put women in the forefront as being equally athletic as men. The match ended with a score of 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.

    "In 1995, the New York Daily News Golden Gloves tournament includes women in their event for the first time. An amateur female boxer, Dee Hamaguchi, is credited for breaking this barrier, allowing this event to become a breeding ground for future professional world champions. In 1994, Dee had applied to fight in this tournament without revealing that she was a female, mailing in her entry form using the initial "D", without giving away her gender."-Hotboxing news

    The First Woman's National Basketball Team was established. The Season started off with eight teams and now contains sixteen. In 2001 ESPN teamed up with NBC to televise the WNBA draft for the first time. The WNB continues to top the chart with being one of the most watched women's sports.

    Daniac Patrick became the fist women to win a Indy race in 2008. As a member if the famous Andretti Team she beat out a tow time Indy Winner by finishing her 200-lap race 5.8594 second before him. She has since then graced the cover of Sports Ilustrated and continues to race.
