    Stopping Domestic Violence
    In 1997, rules were passed to help stop domestic violence. This was the first local policy against domestic violence in all of China.     National Conference on Lesbians
    The National Conference on Lesbians was held in Beijing and was very helpful for the lesbians of China. A group called Beiing Sisters was formed, so the women did not feel alone.     China Central Television started their Half the Sky program. It helped put toghether the gender training for the program producers and set gender advisor positions.     The Developing Women and Gender Studies in China program was approved in 2000. It was held at Tianjin Normal University, which has done good things for women before.     In 2001, amendments were made to the marraige laws. They made divorce easier for women and made the women's right to property and child custody more clear.     Fudan Univesity and Unversity of Hong Kong both held the women and international relations conference. Because of this Fudan University opened the Femenist International Relations coarse at thier university.
