    Woman Recognized as Persons
    As a result of the “Persons’ Case” of the Famous Five, the British
    government recognizes Canadian women as persons under the law. Up to this date according to the British North America Act, women were not considered persons “in matters of rights and privileges,” and could not be appointed to the Senate.
  • Change

    This is a major change for women. who will now be recognized as eligible to run for senate.
  • Women go to Work

    Women go to Work
    Record numbers of women are employed in traditionally male work as part of the war effort. Women made up 17% of the workforce. Women were not eligible however for relief during the depression.
  • Continuity

    Women going to work is the first start to changing the idea that women are just wives or moms. It was met with resistance as stereotypes still existed about women's capacity and ability to engage. But the pay was not equal and society still tried to debate women in the workplace, especially doing a job thought to be for men.
