The polish radio station was his life. He was always there playing the piano and most of his friends were there. The radio station is where he got to show is talent. But due to the bombings it went off air.

When the Germans built the walls around the Warsaw Ghetto to keep the Jews separated from everyone else, Wladyslaw was limited to where he was allowed to go and when he could see his friends on the other side because there was only certain times the gates were open

After visiting a friend with his brother and father they realized that they were not going to make it home before curfew. While they were trying to get home they were stopped buy German solders, and the only reason they lived was because of there reputation as musicians.

Just for fun the German soldiers killed 100 innocent Jews walking the streets This is when Wladyslaw realized that nobody is safe. This continued on for afterwards.

All Jews had 5 days to get an arm band that had the star of David on it and had to be worn on the right arm so German solders could know who was Jewish.

When the Germans invaded France and defeated them the Szpilman family was devastated because they thought they were going to save them. It was the first time Wlasysaw cried since everything started.

The gates separating the Jews from everyone else were closed, so they were no longer allowed to visit anyone on the other side or have any freedom. The Jews were also moved into a smaller area where they shared houses with other family's.

during the winter Wladyslaw best friend Zyskind his wife and 3 children were murdered. They were found in there house sorting secret materials. they were all shot right outside their home. Even there 3 year old daughter.

Thousands of Jews were taken from the Ghetto and taken to the Treblinka camp so the Germans could test out the knew as chambers and ovens. The Szpilman family realizes what might happen to them.

The Sztuka cafe is where wladyslaw earned his money to support his family during the takeover of Warsaw. At this point he didn't know it was his last time playing at the cafe.

The szpilman family along with almost all of the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto were forced out of their house and sent to a small camp, which was just a fenced off square. People where slowly dying to due to hunger and thirst.

While in the Umschlagplatz camp, trains came and the Germans and the Jewish police forced everyone onto the trains. But as wladyslaw was about to get on, one of his friends who is a Jewish officer pulled him off and told him to run and save himself while his family got sent away on the train.

Wladyslaw got work taking down the wall and fixing buildings. This earned him food so he doesn't starve and gave him a chance to blend in rather than hiding.

One of the people wlasyslaw worked with was the only one aloud to go to the market to get food for all the workers. Along with the food he would hide guns and ammunition inside the bags, then later on as they walked home would throw it over the wall to arm the hiding Jews and the polish people who were against the war.

Wladyslaw with the help of the other workers, snuck out of the Warsaw ghetto and met up with Bogucki an old friend from polish radio who hid him in on the fifth floor of a building in a studio

After moving hiding spots, Bogucki had to leave town so his friend was now in checking in on Wladyslaw. One day the mane came with very little food, he said it ws because it was hard to get the money to pay for it ( Wladyslaw had no idea that a bunch of people have been giving money to this man to help buy him food) Wladyslaw gave him the only two things he had left his watch and a fancy pen to sell. After a few weeks he realized that the man had pocketed the money and was not coming back.

The soviet army approached Warsaw and the Polish residences fought against the Germans with them the fight lasted 63 days with the Germans taking charge because the Russians and the Polish were not as armed and were out numbered .

After looking around the new house Wladyslaw was hiding in he ran into a SS German officer who believes what is happening to the Jews is terrible so he listened to WLadyslaw play the piano and helped him hide in the attic and brought him food almost every day because the Germans would be setting up base there the next day.

Captain Wilm Honsenfeld visited for the last time and brought him a blanket and some food along with the news that the soviets were almost in Warsaw and the Germans were pulling away.

Wladyslaw heard music and voices coming from the street so he ran out and after being shot at by the polish and soviets he screams out that he was not a German and was Polish. And he realized he was finally safe.

Wladyslaw returned to doing what he loved Which was playing the piano on the radio with his friends who made it through the war.

One of Wladyslaws friends from the radio station told him about the German he came across when they were freed from the concentration camp and all the Germans were locked up in a fenced are. He said that the German told him he helped save Szpilmans life and asked Wladyslaws friend to get Szpilmans to help get him out. They never did find out where Captain Wilm Hosenfeld.
