Treaty Of Paris
This was a Treaty signed by Paris saying that Britan or what we now know as America can have the 13 colonies on the East Cost. This was a very important event because without the 13 states we would have been able to have the Westward Expansion. -
Louisiana Purchase
We purchased 'Louisiana' in 1804 from France, it was sold for $15 Million dollars when the French ran out of money during their war. When we got this land, the Westward Expansion started. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
Lewis and Clark set out on an amazing journey traveling threw the rockey mountains into the Mississippi River, Lewis Maps and finds new animles and plants while Clark helps make the journy. In this event we see the Westward Expansion actually happening because they are traveling west looking for the Pacific Ocean. After two years they finally find it, they take six months to get back home to tell what they have found. -
War Of 1812
The warof 1812 was a war bewteen Great Britan, America,and Irland. This war lasted 2 years and 8 months, it ended Feburary 18, 1815 and was the start of something great. When the US won against Great Britan we thought we could do anything, that we were litterly the king of the world. We thought that god was the one who wanted us to great when really, since we had all that hope we were just great ourselves. -
The Creek War
The Creek War was a war between Indians and Americans this event lasted until 1814. This event ended with America getting the majority of creeks and rivers in Alabama and Georgia. -
Indian Removal Act
The 1830 Indian Removal Act was where roughly 60,000 Indians had to move out of theirland because President Andrew Jackson had a signed treaty saying any Indians east of the Mississippi River hadto move if they were told. President Jackson used this power over the Cherokee Nation when they found gold in the area they were in, thus the Indian Removal. -
Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears was an act following the Indian Removal act, this act happened over time from 1838 and 1839. This act was about Indians moving out of their georgous land, to Oklahoma, Indians were very sad and cried during the journey. They did this because they were sad they were leaving there home they knew so well, because their family back home were shot just because thye wouldnt leave, because they knew their children would not make it to Oklahoma. -
Texas Annexation
Texas is acppeted to the Union and becomes the 28th state, people move in and settle down. -
Manifest Destiny
This event or thought was very powering for the US because people had hope that they were 'destined for great'. They thought the were destined to go from coast to coest in the US land, they thought it was their mission from God, the reason they thought this was because they won many wars agaisnt the most powerful government in the world. They thought God gave them that streingth so they will use it powerfully throughout the land. -
Mexican American War
This war started when the US started to expand over the land and went onto forgian land, they wanted to take the land but, Mexico wanted to fight for it, so they did. The reason Americans went and took other people land was because the presidant, James K. Polk, believed they had a "Manifest Destiny". This war lasted from 1846 to 1848 and the US won by a long shot. -
California Gold Rush
This event was about gold and how its people reacted, men would leave their families just to go gold mining. Most men wouldn't find anything but some got luckey and found a little bit. The people who made the most money during this time was the shop keepers becausethe miners never really found much and the owners charged lots of money for matiriels. This event was important because it was the start of our economy and how we have changed over the years is amazing, its all because of this. -
Comprise of 1850
This act was trying to get South and North to like each other basically, South wanted slavery and North wanted no slavery so in this act it shows the begning of the civil war unintentually, in Washington D.C slavery trade was outruled and the South was furious. -
California Becomes a State
California finally was considered a state after long debates through congress. In 1850 California became the 31st state and a Slave Free state. -
Gadsden Purchase
Land was added onto Southern Arizona and New Mexico, we bought this land from Mexico, treaty signed in Mexico. -
Pony Express
This was a delevry service for mail, they rode horses across a 2,000 mile radius. This was a long trip for the riders, this service only lasted until 1961 because something new came out upon society calleda telegrph. -
American Civil War
The South and North start to fight, this is one of America's bloddiest wars yet and it changes history forever. -
Klondike Gold Rush
This gold rush starts around 50 years after California's, it began in Alaska, about 100,000 people showed up to mine and collet gold. Gold was about $16 per ounc, so not much money but it was enough to get by if you actually found some. -
Homestead Act
Was an act that was about men, women and/or freed slaves that has never taken arms against the US, 21 years or older, or the head of the family,can apply to get land in the US. -
Transconential Railroad
This was the first railroad to ever be built, this railroad expanded from the East coast to the West coast. It was certainly faster than a wagon or horse back but it was very expensive you get to ride! -
Purchase of Alaska
In 1867 the United States purchased Alaska from Russia, for 7.2 million. Giving the US the biggest state yet to join America, a lot of oil, sliver, and gold.
