    Negotiations to end the conflict in Vietnam, the accords provided a temporary division in Vietnam along the 17th parallel, whereas the French troops left and the United States became the main protectors of South Vietnam. This event is both a political and military event because it was an act to bring the war to the end.

    President Kennedy continued to support South Vietnam increasing the United States Military. Kennedy believed South Vietnam was important in the fight against Communism. This event is a political event because it involves the election of the President and his involvement in the war.
