After Texas leaves to become it's own country it join the USA after some financial troubles, upsetting Mexico so it attacks Texas and kills some soldiers which angers the American government. So it declares war on Mexico, when America wins the took some of Mexico northen properties.

Kanas was going to be the 34th state and it being above the Missouri Compromise would have made it a free state, but most of the government at the time weren't for that. So they deicide to let it vote, but thousand off people moved to Kanas to vote.
