US History Top 10

  • George Washington

    George Washington is so significant to our country because he was the Commander in Chief of the colonial army during the Revolutionary War. He was so inspirational to the country in that time and he still is because they won the war. He was also the first president of the USA, so that’s another reason he’s on my top ten. He helped shaped our country because he was the first true leader we’ve ever had.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence is another important object in our history because it’s basically our countries contract. We live by it everyday. It’s so important because it contains the ideals and goals of our nation. It also explained why they wanted to be free from the king and why they should be. It also states that “all men are created equal”. So it’s signing off that we are now a free country.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the Revolutionary War. It was the battle that gave victory to the Americans over the British. This was so important to our country because that was the date when we knew we were free and had independence. It should be on any top 10 history timelines. It shaped our country because that battle helped us become who the United States is today.
  • The First Amendment

    The First Amendment is very important to our history. They’re all important and here's only two. It gives us religious freedom and freedom of speech. Those are important to our country because we need freedom of speech. It gives us the right to say whatever we want when we want. Also religious freedom is very important because anyone should have the right to believe what they want. It’s on my top ten because no one should be told they can’t believe what they want to believe in.
  • Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution is another important event in our history because it was basically the transition to a new manufacturing process. It’s so important because it shaped our future for everything in general. It shifted to powered, special-purpose machinery, factories and mass production. It made our country much more convenient with our daily lives.
  • Civil War

    The Civil War is important to our country. It was the war to end slavery and maybe without the Northern Armies winning we might still have it till this day. Good thing we don’t. This event shaped our country because now we have equal rights for every skin color because it’s not right to have someone as a “slave” just because they are a different color.
  • Telephone

    The first telephone ever created was in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. This was a very important invention because we use it everyday. It’s on my top ten because It shaped our country because It’s also so convenient to us because without it we would be writing letters everyday.
  • Martin Luther King Jr

    MLK was extremely important to our country's history. He stood up for what he believed in with a speech. He made the African Americans in that time have more hope for their future on equality. He also made everyone have hope for the future, in that case (except the people who didn’t like him). Although he did get assassinated, he will always go down in history, as a man who never gives up.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. This is so significant to our country because it ignited the fury of the United States' entrance into World War II. The following day, December 8, 1945, the United States declared war on Japan. It’s on my top ten because although it’s gone, it’s never forgotten.
  • 9/11

    This was a memorable event in history. When United Airlines got hijacked by Islamic terrorists and crashed into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. This changed us as a nation because it made us a lot more aware of our surroundings and the world can have a lot more than we think of and that made people in general, not just in the USA, but everyone cautious. It changed the way our airports are now, with all the security, which is a good thing, it also just changed people and New York as a whole.
