    Congress adopts the Declaration of Independence
    The declaration of independence announced that the 13 colonies regarded themselves as seperate states. Thomas Jefferson wrote the first copy. This is why we celebrate Independence day every year on july fourth. This is important be because it declared us our own country.

    The constitution was adopted on September 17th 1787. The constitution originally consisted of seven articles. Since it has been adopted it has been amended twenty seven times. This was important because it formed our government.

    Eli Witney was the creator of the cotton gin. It seperates cotton seeds from the cotton fiber. Its important because because it made it easier ro create cotton.

    James Marshall found the first gold nugget in the American River. When this happened word about it spread very quickly. After word spread tens of thousands of people to move out west to california.

    WHat caused the stock market was the stock market crash in 1929. Many people lost their jobs becoming homeless and poor. Herbert Hoover was the president at the time and because of that he was blamed for it. This is important because it left millions of people out of work.

    March on washington is where the famous "I Have a Dream Speech" was given. The speech was given by American civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. The speech called out for an end to rasicm in the United States. Thia ia important because it cahnged the minds of many people.

    IN 1980, a major volcanic eruption ocured in Washington. Prior to the eruption, scientists convinced local authorities to close Mount St. Helens to the general public. Fifty-seven people were killed during the event. This is important because it caused the death of many people and leaving familys with missing members.

    Terrorist attack of 9-11
    Four planes were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks. Two of those planes were crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center. This is important because it left many people without family members and is an event that will never be forgotten.
