    Civil War
    The Civill War started in April 12th 1861 and was an American fight between the North and South. The signifacance/importance of this war was that it lead to the end of slavery and it also was the begining of the Civil Rights Movement which gave African American and women more rights than they had before. Unfortunately, the Civil War was the most expensive war fought in America. It was sad that over 600,000 soldiers were killed and the south was left devestated.
  • African American got the right to vote

    African American got the right to vote
    On Febuary 3 1870, African Americans got the right to vote. This was important because they had to finally outlaw discrimination and some segregation. Women at the time could'nt vote but they got their right to vote on the Nineteenth Ammendment.
  • Invention of Telephone

    Invention of Telephone
    March 7,1876, Alexander Gram Bell invented the telephone. The significance of this was to help people communicate without having to right letters or traveling long distances. This is also important because it made it easier for people to communicate during emergencies.

    The Nineteenth Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote by eliminating discrimination based on gender. the significance of this was that this was the first time women were able to vote allowing their voice to be heard in political matters. Also it was a highlight of the women's sufferage and allowed women to work toward equal rights with men even today.

    The Stock Market Crash happened on October 29th,1929. This was important because People had invested their money into the stock market and the Market crashed because the items lost their value and the people thet were wealthy, were now poor because they lost allof their money. This was what started the Great Depression.
  • Social Security Act

    Social Security Act
    After the Great Depression, the Social Security Act was passed to protect the elderly by providing them with retirement benefits after they stopped working. The act also gave citizens money to care for children, blind people and people who had no job. This is significant because before social security the elderly people would be poor if they had retired especially if they lost their money in the stock market crash.
  • " I have a Dream" speech

    " I  have a Dream" speech
    The I Have A Dream speech was on August 28th 1963 and the significance of this was to say that black people should be treated equally and have a right to vote and have the same rights for a good education as white people. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was also trying to say that their should be no discrimination and segregation. He gave the speech in Washington and more than 250,000 people attended, many of them were white.
  • Man on the Moon

    Man on the Moon
    On July 20th 1969 Neil Armstrong landed on the moon and was the first to do it. He did it along with his buddy Buzz Aldrin. This was important because no man had ever landed on the moon and it gave the U.S. hope to explore space. He had enough courage and he knew he could do it and succeed.

    9/11 Terror Attack on the U.S.
    On September 11, 2001, 2 U.S. planes were overtaken by terrorists and intentionally crashed into the Twin Tower in New York. The first at 8:36, and the second at 9:03. There was a third plane that hit the Pentagon at 9:37. The fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania .The signifacance of this attack for Osama Bin Laden was to play a joke on "911" because the date that it happened on was 9/11. Over 3000 people got killed and 6000 people were injured. This was worst terror attack in the U.S. history.

    Death Of Osama bin Laden
    Osama bin Laden was the head of al-Qaeda and was responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks against the U.S which injured over 6000 people and killed over 3000 people. Fortunatly, the U.S Navy Seals were ordered by President Obama to invade bin Ladens Home in Pakistan where he was killed and later buried at sea.
