  • The Boston Massacre

    British soldiars shot into a group of colonists, killing Crispus Attucks and four other people. This was used as anti-British Propaganda.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans and threw 342 chests of tea in the Boston harbor to protest the Tea Act.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts were passed to punish colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    In responce to the Intolerable Acts, 12 of the 13 colonies met to discuss civil disobediance.

    These acts wer passed by Britain in the colonies and taxed certain goods and forced citizens to house british soldiers.

    Yorktown was the final major battle of the revolution. Cornwallis surrendered in Yorktown

    This treaty ended the Revolution.

    The Northwest Ordinance shows the orderly growth pattern for a territory to become a state. It also accelerated westward expansion.

    Washington was elected the first president of the United States.
  • Bill of Rights Went into effect

    The Bill of Rights was put into the Constitution so that all the states would ratify the constitution.
  • Cotton Gin

    The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney which increased slave labor.
  • Washington's Farewell Address

    Washinton's farewell addressed warned against permenant alliences with foreign powers. Also set a precedent.
  • Louisianna Purchase

    Napolean sold the U.S. Louisianna, which doubled the size of the U.S.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    These two men were ordered to explore what is now the northwest of the United States. Sacagawea helped them along the way.
  • First Practical Steamboat Trip

    Made by Robert Folton, this trip lasted 32 hours and got him150 miles away from his origianl destination. (New York City to Albany)
