    Scopes Trial
    The Scopes Trial (also known as the Scopes Monkey Trial) was a trial for John T. Scopes, a highschool biology teacher. Scopes was put on trial for teaching evolution violating the Butler Act of Tennessee. The Butler Act prohibited the teaching of evolution and denying the biblical origans of man. Scopes was found guilty,but the verdict was overturned.

    Hiroshima bombing
    The atomic bombing of Hiroshima happened near the end World War II. On July 26, 1945 the US warned Japan that if they didn't surrender than they would drop a nuclear bomb on Japan. Japan ignored them so on Aug 6,1945 the US dropped the atomic bomb known as "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima killing 90,000–166,000 people. The US will go on to bomb Nagasaki on Aug 9, 1945.

    The fighting begins on June 25, 1950 with the North Korean People's Army invading South Korea. The Un ended up getting involved and asked for a cease an immediate cease fire.

    Rosenberg-Sobell Trial
    The Rosenberg-Sobell trial began on March 6, 1951. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted for espionage by giving information on the atomic bomb to the Soviets. They were both found guilty and sentenced to the electric chair.

    The Us found out that the Soviet Union was building nuclear missiles in Cuba. These missiles were made inresponse to the US nuclear missiles in Turkey. The US eventually agreed to get rid of the missles in Turkey So the Russians backed down

    On Aug. 28 1963 a rally of over 200,000 people marched from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial to fight for jobs and freedom. It was at this march that Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech took place.

    The Tet Offensice was an attack by the North Vietnamese towards the South Vietnamese and their allies on the Vietnamese high holiday, Tết Nguyên Đán (Vietnamese Lunar New Year). The attack surprised both the US and the South Vietnamese, but they were able to repel most of the massive assault.
