  • Missouri Compromise

    -The Missouri Compromise was the request of Missouri to Congress to let them have slavery.
    -This is an important event because this is one of the events that led to the civil war.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    -The Monroe Doctrine was written by John Adams what it meant was European nations could not intervene in countries south of the US.
    -This is important because later on it would be quoted upon by Theodore Roosevelt and again by Jon F. Kennedy.
  • Trail of Tears

    -The Trail of Tears is the forced location of thousands of Native Americans from Southeastern US on foot to reservations in Oklahoma.
    -This is important because this showed how cruel and in humane the Gov't could be to get what they wanted over 2000 Natives died in camps waiting to be moved, while 2000 more died alone the journey.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    -The Battle of the Alamo was the battle between Texan soldiers and the Mexican army.
    -This is important because the Texans only stood of 200 men while the Mexican army was between 2000-8000, this event showed Texas wasent going down without a fight.
  • Panic of 1837

    -The Panic of 1837 is a US financial crisis in which banks closed and the credit system crashed.
    -This is important because it resulted in many bankruptcies and very high unemployment.
  • Pre-Emption Act

    -The Pre-Empotion Act allowed squatters the ability to buy the land they were living on at the same price as everyone else.
    -This is important because it helped many people affceted by the Panic of 1837 find a home.
  • US - Mexican War

    -The US - Mexican War was over the annexation of Texas.
    -This is important because it determined who won Texas.
  • Bear Flag Revolt

    -The Bear Flag Revolt was a small group of Californians rebelled against the Mexican Government.
    -This is important because it helped lead to California becoming an US state.
  • Sutter's Fort

    -Sutters Fort is where the Gold Rush started.
    -This is important because this event made many people go west in search of gold.
  • Compromise of 1850

    -The Compromise of 1850 was 5 bills being passed.
    -This is important because it was a Government attempt to help east the divided states over slavery.
  • Fugitive Slave Law

    -The Fugitive Slave La is what stopped the Underground Railroad.
    -This is important because it outlawed a major movement during the anti-slave movement.
  • Gadsden Purchase

    -The Gadsden Purchase is the purchase of land from New Mexico.
    -This event is important because it lead to a construction of a railroad to the gulf of California.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    -Bleeding Kansas was a series of violent political confrontations in the US.
    -This is important because this one event leading the slaves to their fate.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    -The Dred Scott Decision was the event when a slave tried to sue for his freedom.
    -This is important because this led to the creation of Judicial Review where the Gov't has to review a law because it is deemed unconstitutional.
  • Harper's Ferry

    -Harper's Ferry is a raid in which many people died.
    -This is important because it helped fuel the division of the states.

    -The battle of Gettysburg was fought in Pennsylvania by Union and Confederate troops.
    -This is important because it was one of the most harsh battle of the civil war.
  • Gettysburg Address

    -The Gettysburg Address is the speech the Lincoln presented at the battle field of Gettysburg.
    -This is important because it brought the nation back together.
  • 13th Amendment

    -The 13th Amendment is the right to bing innocent until proven guilty in court.
  • 14th Amendment

    -Gave citizenship to all people born in the US or not.
  • 15th Amendment

    -Granted African American Men the right to vote.
