  • When It All Started

    The passing of the Constitution started the gun control issue because it gave Americans the right to use guns. Ever since the law was passed, people have been taking advantage of the usage of guns when they feel dangered or like they need something to protect them. Many people, such as police officers, have the right to own guns, but there are many peopple in the nation who freely walk around with guns in their pockets for the wrong reasons. This is causing massacres, big or small, to occur.
  • Gun control became a big issue.

    In 1999, there was an increase in school and workplace shootings. One school shooting examples is the Columbine High School massacre. Two seniors Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 students and 1 teacher. The two also injured 24 students with 3 injured trying to escape the school. They used 99 explosive devises and put some of the bombs in cars. At the end of the shooting the two seniors comtited suicide. Today in the US this is known as a siusidal attack.
  • Zimmerman vs. Martin

    Trayvon Martin, a 17 year-old student, was walking the streets one night when a man by the name of George Zimmerman felt like he was being attacked and pulled out a gun to shoot the African-American teenager, killing him. After weeks of discussion, Zimmerman was found not guilty, and was released. Many people are still against Zimmerman, and believe that this act was a result of racism or other thoughts and ideas.
  • Colorado Movie Theatre Shooting

    A mass shooting happened in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado. This happened during the movie The Dark Knight Rises. James Eagan Holmes was the murderer for this and killed 12 people and injured 70 other people. He set off tear gas grenades and used different types of guns to do this. It was said that Eagen went into the theatre and went out the emergency exit 20 minutes later. He came back in with protective clothing on and his guns. Thats when it all started.
  • Newtown, Connecticut school shooting happens.

    At Sandy Hook Elementary, 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 20 students and 6 adults. Many teachers risked thier lives trying to keep all the kids safe. Many parents are now left with the tragic loss of thier children. Before police could arrive at the school Adam commited suicide by shooting himself in the head. It was the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in American history since the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre. This shooting prompted a renewal in the gun control debate.
  • The Boston Bombing

    In the event of the Boston Bombing, two pressure cooker bombs went off killing 3 people and injuring 264 others. The people who set off the bombs also killed a police officer, tried to steal an SUV, and "initiated an exchange of gunfire with the police in Watertown, Massachusetts." This event was a mass killing and had to do with people who shouldn't be able to have some of those intense weapons and guns.
