Meyer Starts to Build Hidden Room in Basement
Meyer starts to build the room to hide form Germans in his basement. He sneaks the supplies into his house with whatever he can, and must only work in the day, because the Germans would be suspicious with a light on in the basement all night. When the Germans start searching houses, they go to hide, but Meyer goes to tell Manya he is safe, but instead, Manya decides to join with him, and leave her family behind -

Life through Camps and Hiding
Manya, Meyer. and Meyers family goes through many camps durring the Nazi's contol over their country. -
The Group Goes out to another hiding place.
Suspecting that the Germans will find their hidden room, the group move out at night to go to another place. When they head out, they first hide in the loft of a barn, then move to a building with a room hidden under a haystack. -
Josef Goes out to get food for the family
Josef was going out for seven nights to get to get the food for the family. But one night he was staying out later than usual, but he had passed out from being drunk at the bar, and didn't wake up until the next morining in the barn, then went back to the family with all of the food. -

Manya and Meyer Start to Smuggle Goods
Meyer and Manya have an idea when searching the houses in the ghetto, they will hide some of the stuff they find and sell it off to make some money to be freed. One of Meyers friends help them smuggle the goods, until they go off to different camps. -
Meyer and Manya are sepeated
After the town's houses are cleared out, all of the families are sent different ways to camps to be held or to die. When Meyer and Manya get on different trains to head off, they only hope that they will see each other again and the other hasn't died. -
Chaim is taken away.
Chaim, Manyas little brother, is seperated from Manya, and they both hope they will once again reunite, and nothing back has happened to the other. Chaim is sent off, while Manya stays at the camp. -
Meyers family dies
Meyer had found an old friend who had become an agent for the Nazis, and Meyer wanted to know about his family. He went up the man and asked him about them, and he had told them he had believed they they were dead. -
Meyers dad dies
Avrum was hit in the head with a metal pipe in the head and left on a street to die, he was found and brought to the hospital, but he died later that night. -

Manya is deported
Manya goes to another camp called Budzyn and left Meyer at the other camp, where Manya had made clothing. It was difficult in the winter for the women to make clothing because of their numb fingers. One day, Manya gets sick and is told that she can stay withthe doctor lets her rest another day for she can get well and get back to work, instead of getting killed for not being able to work in the factories. -
Manya's camp gets liberated
When Manya is in the sleeping area, when they hear that the gunshots are getting closer and closer. Eventually, they realize that they are heading fot the camp, and then they hear shots in the camp, then see soldiers walk into the camp, telling them that it is safe to go, but no one budges, until one woman gets up, and realzed its safe to go, then Manya goes back to her home town, and lives there. -
Meyer goes to Mielcez
When Meyer and Manya get seperated, Meyer goes to Mieclez, a town in Poland, where they are held, until moving to Wieliczka -
Manya and the rest of the women refuse to eat
When Manya and the other women in the camp eventually get annoyed with what little they get, they come up with an idea to not eat the food they get. They feel that this is a major milestone in getting better care for the women, becasue they refused to eat if they weren't given anything. -
Meyer goes back to his home
Meyer told Manya that once the war was over, they will meet up again in their home town. Meyer takes a train to Hrubieszow and a friend tells him that Manya is there and that she is alive. Manya and Tovah were staying with a family friend named Motl Reese. Meyer and Manya were reunited and they kept their promises to each other. -
Manyas Family is reunited
Manya, Chaim, and others of her family meet up for the first time in over 40 years, and they all get together for dinner with Meyer's son.
