    On December 16th, 1773, men boarded 3 harbor ships. When they did this they tossed over 342 chests of tea into the ocean. They did this to protest agaisnt taxes on tea, and other items.

    The decloration of Independance was written to declare are freedom from England. Thomas Jefferson worked on it and completed it. This is important because it led to our freedom on July 4th, 1776.

    The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal that American bought from france. It costed $15 million. We gained 827,000 square miles, doubling the size of the nation. It also gave America the power over the Mississippi River.
  • The Lewis and Clark journey

    According to Wikipedia, "The expedition was commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson shortly after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, consisting of a select group of U.S. Army volunteers under the command of Captain Meriwether Lewis and his close friend, Second Lieutenant William Clark." They mapped all of the land that they traveled through, along with recording over 200 new animal and plant species.
  • Nat Turner rebellion

    Nat Turner rebellion
    Nat Turners rebellion was also known as Southampton Insurrection. This event was a slavery rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia. Many slaves, led by Nat Turner, killed up to 55-65 people. This was the highest amount if deaths caused by a slave or slave group in southern America.
  • The Battle of Alamo

    The Battle of Alamo
    The Battle of the Alamo was a major event in the Texas Revolution. Mexican troops under President General Antonio López de Santa Anna launched an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar, killing all of the Texian defenders. In hopes of revenge, the people of Texas defeated the Mexican Army, on April 21, 1836, ending the revolution.
  • The Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears
    PBS sites, "In 1838 and 1839, as part of Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy, the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and to migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma." The indians had to walk 2,200 miles on the long journey and many of them died.
  • The Donner Party

    The Donner Party
    According to Google, "The Donner Party was a group of American pioneers led by George Donner and James F. Reed who set out for California in a wagon train. Delayed by a series of mishaps and mistakes, they spent the winter of 1846–47 snowbound in the Sierra Nevada." They ran out of food so they had to resort to canabalism. After that winter only one man was found alive surrounded by human bones.

    The California Gold Rush (1848–1855) was a period in American History which began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California.
  • Fugitive Slave Act

    Fugitive Slave Act
    According to page 480 of the orange textbook, the fugitive slave act was a law meant to help the slave owners with runaway slaves recapture them. This was part of them comprimise of 1850.

    According to pages 478-480 in the orange textbook, Uncle Tom's Cabin was a novel written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The book was publsihed in 1852 and it showed slavery as immoral and brutal.

    Bleeding Kansas was a series of different violent attacks. According to pages of 486-487, Preston Brooks attacked Sumner when he was sitting at his desk in congress. He caused severe injuries that disabled him for mnay years. Another attack was when a proslavery mob looted the town of lawrence kansas.

    According to the orange book on page 490, Harpers ferry was a federal arsenal in Virginia; captured in 1859 during an antislavery revolt. The abolitioist, John brown raided Harpers ferry, along with other men.

    Fort Sumter is known for the place the civil war first started. After the announcment about plans of restocking the fort, it becomes under attacked by a confederate general.

    On April 15th, 1865, Aberham Lincoln was shot while attending a play in Washington D.C. The man who just him was John Wilkes Booth. This is an important event to remember because he was our president and he was murdered.

    Brown v. the board of education was a court case regarding the acceptance of black poeple in public schools. It was led by 5 different schools. This event is important because it led to black people being welcomed into public schools, and other places as well.

    Elvis Presley was a singer in the 1950-60's. He was known as the rock and roll god. He was a very famous man. On August 16th,1977, Elvis Presley died of a heart attack, at age 42. This was an important time because a lot of people loved him, and still remember him today.

    September 11th, 2001 was a day when four terrorist planes intentionally crashed into the twins towers, and other places. Nobody knew that this was going to happen, causing many lifes to be taken. The planner of the attack was Osama bin Laden.

    Death of Osama Bin Laden
    On May 2nd, 2001, Osama Bin Laden was shot and killed when American troops rushed to Pakashtan when they found out his location. This is important because he was a terrorist in the group Isis, who killed many Americans.
