  • The Lewis and Clark Journey West

    The Lewis and Clark Journey West
    The Lewis and Clark Journey West was to explore, map, and chart the new territory form the Louisiana Purchase. During the Lewis and Clark Journey, Lewis and Clark met a woman named Sacagawea. She was form the Shosone Indian Tribe, and was very helpful to them. Sacagawea helped Lewis and Clark with language, plants, and geography. Clak charted and mapped the new territory, and Lewis discovered more than 200 new plant and animal species.

    The Louisiana Purchase was made from France. It was $15 million dollars- or three cents an acre. The Lousisiana Purchase gave America control of the Mississippi River, and doubled the size of the nation.

    Trail of Tears
    President Jackson forced the Native Americans to move from their territory. Before the Trail of Tears, President Jackson made Indian tribes move, however, they cooperated. Some of the tribes didn't cooperate, and they "fought back" They eventually went to court and won, however President Jackson ignored that they won, and force them to their "new" territory. This trip became known as the Trail of Tears.

    Donner Party
    Geoerge Donner was the leader of the Donner party.Lansford Hastings left note for the explorers that there was a faster passage, however it ended up being longer, and they had to cut through thick trees. On October 28th, a heavy snow fell and prevented the party from going any further. Eventually, all of their supplies ran out, and they resorted to cannibalism which is why they are famous today. Only 45 of the 89 made it to California that year. (History.com)

    On January twenty-fourth, 1848, James Wilson Marshal found small gold pieces In the American River. By 1849, the Gold Rush bagan. However, the people who were searching for gold did not make the most fourtune. The people who had shops, buisinesses, and hotels where the Gold Rush was happening made a fotune. The heat of the Gold Rush began in 1852. The popular football team, the 49ers, acquired their name from the Gold Rush. During the Gold Rush,ca total of $2 billion was discovered.(History.com)

    The Fugitive lave act was created and put into force in 1850. This law meant that accused fugitives could be held without an arrest warrant. Howver, this just made more people join the abolitionist movement.

    5 schools got together to allow black children and white children to go to school together. They won in a unanimous court ruling, allowing black people and white people to go to school together.

    Elvis Presley was a very popular man. He was super famous in rock ad roll. His death is still unknown to this day, as some people believe he had a heart attack, and others think he commited suicide. The coroner announced that he had cardiac arrythmia, however that can only be determined on a live person.

    In 1997 Netflix was invented. The headquarters for Netlfix are in Los Galos Californina. Netlfix is used for watching movies and television. There is a monthly fee, but it is only $8 dollars per moth, for the lowest subscription. Netflix has over 65.55 million subscribers worldwide.
