The trail of tears was the act of when the U.S. wanted to take the land away from the indians so that we could have more land, and the Indians did many things to try and stop this, fought back, they said they would leave peacefully, they hid, and they even went to court in which they won but Andrew Jackson over ruled the supreme court after the indians won, so they had to leave. Fort sumter is a federal fort pon an island in charleston's harbor. At first both the southereners and the northerners thought it was gonna be fast war but then they realized it was gonna be long and difficult.. After 34 hours of shelling, Anderson surrended. No one was killed defending the fort, but the attack on fort sumter marked the begining of the civil war.
