    The Confederate Army met the Union Army in Gettysburg and the largest battle in American history took place. After three days the Confederates were defeated. After two years the Confederates surrendered marking the end of the Civil War.
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham Lincoln is assassinated
  • World War I

    World War I started in 1914, but the US. did not declare war on Germany until 1917. In 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was drafted and the war was over
  • Roaring Twenties

    The Roaring Twenties was an exciting time. There was jazz music, silent movies, and fads. The stock market was booming and people were buying the Model-T car created by Henery Ford. However, there was also danger. The Klu Klux Klan, a racist organization, was created. The targeted immigrants, blacks, Catholics, and many others.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression started in 1929 when the stock market crashed. By 1932 thousand of banks and businesses had failed. Wages had been decreased significantly and thousands of workers were jobless. The same year Franklin D. Rosevelt was elected president. He created a "New Deal" platform to help boost the economy.
  • World War II

    World War II started in 1939, but the US did not get involved until December 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The US allied with Britain, and the Soviets.
  • 9/11

    Terrorists hijacked American airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.
