Great Britain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a constitutional monarchy, currently led by Prime Minister David Cameron. The state was founded in 1707, with the passing of the Acts of Union of 1707. There are three branches of government.

The United States is a constitution-based federal democracy. Currently led by President Barack Obama, America was founded with the Declaration of Independence in 1776, with its Constitution later written in 1787. The government contains three branches.

Mexico

Mexico is a federal republic with three branches of government. It declared its independence in 1810 and is currently led by President Felipe Calderon.

Venezuela

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is a federal republic with four branches of government. Currently led by President Hugo Chavez Frias, Venezuela gained its independence from Spain in 1811 and established its current government in its constitution, written in 1999.

Cuba

May 20, 1902

Cuba is a communist government currently led by President Raul Castro. The nation gained its independence from the United States in 1902. After gaining office, the Communist Party proceeded to write a new constitution in 1992, declaring itself as the leading force of society and the state. There are three branches of government.

Taiwan

The Republic of China is a multiparty democracy, currently led by Ma Ying-jeou. Taiwan was founded in 1911 and its current government was established along with its constitution in 1947. There are four branches of government (though it can be argued that there are from three to seven branches).

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is a monarchy of three branches. Currently led by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Kingdom was founded in 1932.

Iraq

Japan is a parliamentary government with a constitutional monarchy. There are three branches of government in Japan, which was founded in the 660 B.C. The current Japanese constitution was written, and the current Japanese government was founded, in 1947. The current Prime Minister is Naoto Kan.

North Korea

Sep 9, 1948

North Korea is a communist government with three branches of government. Korea declared its independence in 1919 and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea declared its independence from South Korea in 1948. The government is currently led by Supreme Leader Kim Jong-il.

China

China is a communist government currently led by President Hu Jintao. Beginning in 2100 B.C. with the Xia Dynasty, the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949. There are three branches of government.

Russia

First founded in 862 with the Rurik Dynasty, Russia is a federation currently led by President Dmitry Medvedev. The current government was founded in 1991 with the formation of the Russian Federation. There are three branches of government.
