    Compromise of 1850

    During the Compromise of 1850 the fugitive slave act was passed which forced citizens to help return slaves to their owners. I added this vocal word to the american dream because it is the exact opposite of the american dream. At this point in history we were taking away the rights of these human beings which is exactly the opposite of what our country was supposed to be about.
  • Toleration Act

    The Toleration Act was a law that passed allowing Christians freedom of religion. This allowed up to become a step closer to the American Dream because we started allowing religious freedom.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence severed the colonies ties from Great Britain and declared them independent. The Declaration of Independence allowed people to believe in the American Dream and that if they stuck together as a country they could achieve anything.

    Dorothea Dix

    Dorothea did was an American activist who believed in helping the mentally insane and created mental asylums. She is an example of the American dream because she wanted to make a difference so she put her mind to something and achieved it.
  • The Era of Good Feelings

    The Era of Good Feelings was a period of time in which the United States showed a sense of want for unity among Americans following the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. In this period americans remembered the American Dream and how the country needed to stay united.
  • The election of 1824

    In this election John Quincy Adams was elected president by the House of Representatives after the country could not decide on a president. This is an example of the American dream because once the country couldn't decide it went to the people they had elected just as it says to do in the Declaration of Independence.

    John Rockefeller Sr

    John Rockefeller Sr. was an American oil industry woke who changed the oil industry. He used determination and hard work to get what he wanted which is much like what the American Dream is about.
